How to Become an Author?

By now, you’ve probably gone through tons of articles and lessons on how to become an author. Some might have worked, some didn’t. It’s only understandable how writing and publishing a book is not an easy task. Having seen that, we gathered these brief points below that is legitimately a must-need for every thriving author.

Sticking to a writing schedule

Procrastination is a writer’s number one pet peeve and we can gradually eliminate that by sticking to a writing schedule. Set a goal and the number of words you can write in a day and increase the number of words you can work on as weeks pass. Writer’s block should be no excuse. Don’t wait for inspiration to strike, write until you make it a habit over time.

Do extensive plan and research

A good story starts with thorough research and planning. The first thing on your list after your plan is to do the outline. Do the research afterward and pay attention even at your story’s tiniest detail. As an author, the opportunity to build authority and credibility is something you don’t want to mess up.

Don’t quit on your regular job

Once your book goes out, it doesn’t guarantee sales just yet. You still have to work in marketing it by shelling out cash to retarget or make marketing strategies happen. Mind you, you don’t do marketing once, it’s best to exhaust any marketing mediums with wise spending involved of course.

Network with other authors

The best way to engross yourself in the field of writing is to interact with people who are ahead of you in the same field. Ask for best practices, pieces of advice, and inspirations to mainly to establish your own writing style as well.

Falling forward is the only way to go if you see yourself falling apart or giving up amidst your writing endeavor. See failure as a door of opportunity for you to learn and grow from the things that you struggle with. It’s about looking at a brighter perspective in problems and making good use of it for your growth. If other authors made it, you can too.
